IAAF World Challenge competition took place today in Peking. Syrian Majd Eddin Ghaza won the men high hump completion, setting both personal and national record and what is more, best world season result.
Two silver medalists were close to the first position in high jumps among the men, but lack of 11cm put them away. The winner is Syrian high jumper Majd Eddin Ghazal. His result of 2.36m became the best result in this world season, he also exceeded previous high result of American Erik Kynard (Erik gained the victory in The Diamond League in Doha with a result of 2.33m). 29-year old Ghazal added 5 more centimeters to his national record. The second position was divided between Chinese sportsmen Yu Wang and Zhao Sun with the result of 2.25m. Ukrainian Dmytro Yakovenko also reached the height of 2.25m in third attempt. As the result Dmytro took the fourth position together with another Chinese high jumper Jinqi Guo.
Bulgarian 26-year old sportsman Mirela Demireva, who was the finalist of the world championship 2015, won the women high jump competition with the result of 193cm . Two sportsmen from Uzbekistan, namely, Svetlana RADZIVIL and Nadezhda Dusanova won the second and third places with a result of 190cm. Ukraine gained once more the fourth place. Iryna Gerashchenko has more unsuccessful attempts than sportsmen from Uzbekistan but it was better than famous athlete Levern Spencer` number of tries, who gained the fifth position.
